Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“I walked into this gym, I was greeted warmly and felt genuinely welcomed. The customer service is excellent, and the environment is both positive and motivating. I’ve trained at several gyms before, and I can confidently say this is one of the best in the San Gabriel Valley. The instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, and the training partners are just as helpful. Whether you're new or experienced, you’ll find people here who are willing to guide you and push you to improve. After taking some time off, I came back a bit rusty on certain techniques. I appreciated how patient and encouraging the rolling partners were always willing to help without frustration or ego. Overall, it's been a great experience, and I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train in a welcoming, high quality environment.”
“I have been at Silanoe Martial Arts since 2023. I’ve done trials at other academies around the area, and hands down this is the best place to be for learning self-defense and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Whether you are a competitor or recreationalist, the curriculum here provides a solid foundation for both groups of people. You will be learning the fundamentals of BJJ, while staying up to date with the current modern day trends. Both Gi and No-Gi classes are offered here. In addition, Muay Thai and MMA classes are also part of the academy’s schedule. The facility and mats are cleaned consistently and kept up the shape. Under the leadership of Professor Gino, the academy environment fosters a great sense of community and comradery. Everyone is very helpful and accommodating towards learning the art. The coaches (Professor Paul, Monty, Mike) are willing to go the extra mile to get you to where you want to be ! If you are looking to compete, Professor Gino and the rest of the staff will guide you through the process. I had personal concerns and qualms about stepping into the competitive space. However with their guidance and coaching, we were able to come up with a suitable game plan that gave me confidence and reassurance to perform on the mats.”
“If you're having trouble deciding between the many, many options for martial arts gyms in the area, you absolutely cannot go wrong with choosing Silanoe and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least take a trial here! Silanoe offers a wider variety of classes than many other local gyms and each coach here is extremely knowledgeable and well-qualified to teach the many options. If you're looking to eventually compete, they've got a pipeline for that as well. Most importantly, the community at Silanoe is by far the friendliest and most welcoming. People here will go out of their way to welcome new members, answer their questions, and encourage you on your journey. Don't be intimidated if you're out of practice or a complete beginner; people of all levels take classes here and there are no big egos or jerks. Silanoe clearly takes pride in creating a community, as seen from its children's classes and family plans, and they are more than happy to welcome new members! If you ever stay until closing, you'll also see that they work very hard to keep the place clean and hygienic, which is super important for a place like this where you're in frequent contact with each other in the ground. All in all, I would confidently say you should look no further whether you're wondering where to start your own martial arts journey, looking to return to it, as I did, or just to try something fun and new!”
“I’ve been coming here for about ~6 months now. I’ve had no prior training, and this the first gym I’ve been to. I was hesitant to start BJJ in general because I was intimidated and nervous of the preconceived notion I had about gyms goers with egos or something to prove. A good friend recommended Silanoe and said it was such a welcoming and safe environment to train at. He said there was lots of camaraderie and genuine desire to improve themselves and collaboratively help others improve too. I cannot stress how right my friend was. Professor Gino is an excellent instructor and the environment he fosters in the gym is truly authentic and welcoming. A stark contrast from some of the corporate style gyms. He really wants to see us improve and works to do so. He really takes the time to individually help us learn and tailor our game for our natural inclination towards different styles. I also want to praise the other BJJ instructors here as well (Professor Paul, and Coach Monty) who are also heavily invested in coaching and helping us improve. Whether you want to learn BJJ as self defense, compete, or even just get a good workout with a great community, I highly recommend calling this gym home!”
“If you're around the SGV area, I highly recommend training at Silanoe! Professor Gino is not only a great BJJ practitioner but he's also a great human being as well. He's always kind and very welcoming. I love how he is off and on the mat. Great overall person! His students are also highly trained gifted BJJ practitioners as well! They will guide anyone new coming through the door. If you're starting off or if you're thinking about coming back to the art. Look into Silanoe! Thank you, Professor Gino for always welcoming me and also to your students!”
