If you’re looking for a place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, grow as an athlete, and be welcomed into a supportive environment—this isn’t it. I walked in with respect, discipline, and a genuine desire to train. I’ve been involved in physically demanding sports for years, including striking and grappling arts. I came ready to learn. What I got was cold indifference and rigid gatekeeping. The head instructor didn’t acknowledge me—no hello, no introduction, no effort to assess whether I was a beginner, hobbyist, or serious practitioner. Just silent dismissal. The atmosphere felt more like a country club than a martial arts academy. On top of that, the school restricts No-Gi access to students who earn stripes in the Gi first, regardless of background. That may work for some, but in 2025, it’s outdated and limiting—especially for athletes who want to train seriously across formats. I’ve since visited other schools in the Tri-Cities area that offered a welcoming, ego-free environment from day one—with real instruction, no red tape, and coaches who actually talk to new students. That’s what BJJ should be about. If you value structure over substance and want to be ignored until you earn your way into the club, Siri BJJ might work for you. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

This place is above the bar as is the norm for any other gyms with the Siri name. Gustavo is the most humble, gracious, down to earth professor you can find anywhere. This place creates a symphony of balance between family, respect, competition and class. We will be returning and look forward to our time here. If your looking for a place to attend, I can save you ti.e amd effort by saying "look here first". If your in the pasco area Wes Cooper (Siri bjj pasco) runs a 5 star outfit as well and no matter what you choose, you and your children will be in the best of company with ppl that truly care.

Professor Gustavo has built an outstanding Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy at the Siri Kennewick. The facilities are top-notch, and the training environment is second to none. What really sets this gym apart is the incredible culture—it's welcoming and friendly, yet maintains a high level of training that pushes you to improve. Professor Gustavo is world-class, and his expertise extends beyond the gym, having put on seminars in my hometown of Calgary. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking to train BJJ in the area!

Hands down, best BJJ I've been to. Professor Gustavo is the super hands on with his teaching style and treats his students like family. The whole place is welcoming and friendly to all, especially to new ones. When I first started my journey with jiu jitsu, Professor Jeremy from the beginners class was also super helpful and supportive and I've never felt more welcome in any space. Highly recommend. I also appreciate that they offer a Saturday class especially for women of all levels.

This school is beyond excellent. I trained for several years in another state, earned my black belt there, and relocated to the Tri-Cities for work. I've been training here since Nov. 2021. I have visited many schools over the years. This one is a true gem. Gustavo leads from the front. He maintains a healthy gym culture through example, tends to all students, and actively competes (with success to boot). He also attends many competitions to support and coach his students -- even when he isn't competing, even when it's hours away. There are certain signs to look out for when visiting new gyms -- things that indicate a gym is a good place for *everyone* to train. Some of the many good signs I've seen at Siri: students are encouraged to compete and supported throughout the process, the black belts actually stay, the student body is diverse, the early beginners have their own class where they can grow comfortable instead of being thrown straight into the deep end, and the mats are ALWAYS CLEAN. It's also not a "soft" gym in any sense of the word. As in, if you're a competitor and you need good, hard rolls to consistently level up, you will find that here. There is a strong, healthy interest in competition. Whether you're eager to try out jits for the first time, or you're a seasoned competitor looking for a new home, do yourself a favor and visit. This gym rules!
