“About 6 months before covid I was looking to get into jiu jitsu I had been putting it off for all the classic excuses “I don’t have the time, it’s going to cost to much, I am not in shape I will get in shape then join” I finally gave it a shot and best choice I made. I found a close group of men and women who opened their doors and have helped me with my journey along the way. It has been a massive learning curve and I can’t get enough of it. Now I’m helping with kids classes and rolling 3-5 days a week a couple days in the morning and nights. Not only for the jiu jitsu itself but also everyone that is there is super knowledgeable and will be sure to guide you along. Never once did I feel like someone was trying to hurt me or make me feel down about my lack of knowledge. No better place to train than right here!”

“After moving to the Roanoke/SML area, I found a home in this gym for two main reasons. The first of which is the quality of the bjj instruction. This gym has slightly smaller class sizes than my previous experiences so I get to ask more questions and ultimately absorb more from each class. Our instructors each have unique perspectives to improve your game and are always willing to break things down for you. The second reason is the people. I have met some amazing people that love to train hard but also take the time to get to know you. If you are looking to train in the Roanoke area, I highly recommend giving this place a try!”

“the moment I walked in in the doors, I was greeted and introduced to everyone there. It did not take me long to realize this place not only has some amazing practitioners but they are also some of the most friendly people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. The instructor take time to make sure everyone, from first day white belts to 10 year vets, understand the instructions and help tailor the movements to there body type and ground game. What are you looking for a full-time Gym or just a place to drop in while traveling. You can’t go wrong with Roanoke judo and jiu jitsu club!”

“Awesome spot, rolled into an evening Judo class thinking it was Jiu Jitsu. The coaches and members were super welcoming and patient. Learned a lot in the 90 minutes and got some quality matches in too! I'll be back anytime I'm in Roanoke!”

“This place is great as a whole but even better if you are traveling in and want a place to train. Everyone is solid and friendly. There were no egos, no weird rituals, no welcome the “new guy” awkward situations. Instructors treated me equal to people who have been there for years when it came to educating and giving advice. Can’t recommend this place enough!”
