Explore Jiu Jitsu TechniquesβHave been needing to get in shape and after meeting one of the instructors Dennis I decided to give street jitsu a try. Well, itβs been great. For one, itβs much more entertaining than a typical work out. For two, I feel like Iβm learning a great skill to have. If I have anything to say about it Iβll be going for years to come.β
βHey! thank you so much Coachπ―β―οΈ!! Had me tearing up seeing your txt. Itβs been a long 6.5 years at UNT. Iβm so blessed to have amazing men like you in my corner. Iβm very much looking forward to this next chapter. In it, one of my goals is to get off my lazy butt and get back in the gym with you sir, those years I was training under your guidance where the strongest and biggest Iβve ever been (both mentally and physically) and I miss it very much. Iβm so thankful to have my dad around to help me afford it here soon, the past few years god had some very valuable and transformative mistakes he allowed me to commit (addiction, arrested twice, bar fights, countless failed classes, you name it) but ultimately it has allowed me to find myself and his grace allowed me to get back up stronger each and every time. I pray to my lord and savior Jesus Christ, that he continues to shape us two and guide us into becoming the warriors he needs for his kingdom. We are already on the right track. Like the saying goes, He only gives his toughest challenges to his strongest men; and I truly believe that. I ask that he continues to soften our hearts and spread love, heal our wounds, and fills us with courage to smite down all evil; so that we may leave this world better than how we found it. Itβs in his blood I pray. Amen, and I love ya brotherπͺπ½β
βA great environment and a great workout. The coaches care and invest their time in the students. The owner even helped me change my sisters brakes!β
βStreet Jitsu in Roanoke is hands down the best place to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors are incredibly skilled and genuinely care about each student's progress. They create a supportive and motivating environment that makes training both challenging and enjoyable. The gym is always clean and well-equipped, ensuring a top-notch training experience. I've improved significantly since joining and have felt welcomed into a great community. Whether you're new to BJJ or a seasoned practitioner, Street Jitsu is the place to be. Highly recommend itβfive stars!β
βFrom day 1, it has been very apparent that the coaches AND the students that train here are invested in helping anyone who walks through the doors achieve their goals. Im in my 30's with a full time job and train in the mornings at the 6am class. My 5 year old daughter trains at the evening kids class. Here are our favorite parts: 1. Strong Sense of Community, Member Demographics. Walking through the doors your met with some friendly, interesting, and genuinely nice people who go out of their way to introduce themselves and make you feel like part of a team. People who train here seem to leave their egos at the door which creates a fantastic learning environment. There are fit people, not-so-fit people like me who are trying to get into shape, young kids, older people, and anything in between. Don't let these incredible folks fool you with their kindness though, these people can get DOWN on the mats. 2. Training and Coaching Quality: The coaches here are incredibly talented and available. I haven't had a question go unanswered or a flawed technique go unnoticed. Early on I messed up moves so bad people thought I was trying other moves, but instead of humiliation or frustration I was met with help and encouragement. The kids coaches are very patient, fantastic with the kiddos, and make the learning experience of Jiu Jitsu fun. Furthermore, the students (both kids and adults) here are really good at Jiu-Jitsu, so theres never a shortage of good training partners who are willing, able, and even excited to help. 3. Superb Communication: The gym has a robust communication system that involves email and text to compliment what the coaches put out at practice. It keeps us informed of cool events at the gym, changes, and even helps with accountability. I'm fairly experienced in these type of communication systems, and typically don't like them because they are overly noisy and automated to a flaw. Thats not the case here though, they have communication down pat. 4. Jiu-Jitsu itself. Man, this stuff is fun. Its hard, but the coaching and community help remove any roadblocks. I have a blast while getting into shape. I feel like I've discovered a sustainable physical health program that comes with some powerful mental health benefits too. I tried hard to find constructive or negative feedback to add to this review, but I couldn't think of anything I would change or improve for now. I highly encourage anyone interested, regardless of their fitness level, to stop by the front desk and talk with Tracy about the gym and about Jiu Jitsu. She is awesome and will give you a no-pressure rundown on whats to come. See you on the mats!β
