The students respect him and the studio, are learning a great deal of practical martial arts, and he keeps the kids classes fun and engaging. Technically my 3 year old is just shy of the age cut and I was worried that he wouldn’t have the discipline or patience to get through class, but that hasn’t been the case. I understand that teaching philosophies differ by studio, but Carlos has a way of breaking down complex techniques in manageable steps for the kids to follow. At times, I sit back and wonder why the drills are constantly repeated, only to be impressed with the “ah-ha” moment when the moves click and get pieced together with some other technique. Although a grappling art and very physical, he puts the safety of the kids 1st and is diligent in how he matches students and is attentive to their skill sets and abilities. The 2-week free trial is key as it allows you enough time to assess if your kids are taking to it…mine certainly did and we haven’t looked back yet.”
