I feel very lucky to have found this place! The BJJ and Karate instruction is detailed and technical. The instructors themselves are thoughtful and supportive. But really the thing that makes this place so special is that they've managed to attract such a down-to-earth and welcoming group of students. Great instruction. Good people. Chill vibes. I couldn't be happier training here.

I love training here! Damoon and Anna are fantastic instructors who have created a safe, supportive and communal studio that's perfect for a beginner like me. The Karate program is top notch and I recommend it to anyone interested in exploring or getting back into martial arts.

As a small woman, it was intimidating to take the initial step of going to the school. I didn't have any combat sports training and was not sure if I was going to be a good fit. I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped in. The community is very diverse, welcoming, and down to earth. The atmosphere is always safe and chill; everyone is respectful and supportive. The school is always clean, close to public transportation, and it also offers 7am morning classes! Anna is the karate instructor who holds a black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate. The karate classes are well structured. Anna goes into detail to explain moves and reasoning behind her instructions/movements. I highly recommend her karate classes to anyone who wants to start their martial arts training with an instructor who goes above and beyond to engage her students. Damoon is the jiujitsu instructor. He is knowledgeable and passionate about the art. He is capable of breaking down a move to the most miniscule detail, emphasizing the learning experience while maintaining the highest safety standards. Both instructors take the time to know each of their students and will provide you with personalized feedback to improve your game. The classes are not only physically challenging but mentally rewarding. The membership includes all karate, vale tudo, striking, and jiujitsu classes. All classes are coed, and women are encouraged to join any of the classes. They are always more than happy to answer any inquiries, no matter how complex or basic the question is. This is the best martial arts/combat sports school in Central Brooklyn. If you're looking for an engaging and welcoming experience, then this is your place.

The 47 BJJ Coop offers friendly, accessible training in Brazilian Jujitsu for all levels. I was impressed by how welcomed I was, feeling at ease immediately. The space is conveniently located right off the subway. It can be intimidating to start a new sport, but the group was completely accepting and clearly demonstrated the different techniques that were then practiced with partners. This is an excellent addition to the Brooklyn martial arts studios, and the pricing is very reasonable. I would highly recommend these classes for those just starting up to seasoned veterans of the sport.

Anna’s enthusiasm for karate is contagious. Her technical skills, teaching abilities and knowledge of martial arts history far exceed the 10+ years she’s been training. Anna also has a knack for making people feel at ease. Anyone who tries one of her classes at 47 BJJ is bound to get hooked. You won't regret it!
