Explore Jiu Jitsu Techniques“Absolutely one of the best Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu schools around. Incredible atmosphere, with each student getting the attention and training they need at the level they are ready for. I started training with the owner as a kid years ago and now my son and I both train here together. Family vibes with world class lessons.”
“The Edge has incredible martial arts programs for all skill levels and ages, great coaches and an family atmosphere that is so positive and inviting for everybody! The facility and equipment are top of the line with a focus of making everyone improve to be their best!”
“While staying in Lynchburg from out of town, I attended a few Jiu Jitsu classes at The Edge, and was treated like one of their own. I learned some great closed guard techniques from instructors Karrington and Caleb. I also got some great mount and side control escape details from instructor Christian. This is a great place to do jiu jitsu and grow. Great community for everyone. Whether you want to compete in BJJ, MMA, learn self defense, or make some good friends, this will be a great choice.”
“Best martial arts school in town! Family atmosphere and great vibes all around. Supportive team and caring coaches. You will become a better version of yourself while getting a great workout and having a blast while doing it!”
“While watching a podcast with Jocko Willink some time ago, he indicated that the best martial arts (in his Navy SEAL experience) for self-defense are grappling arts (he suggested learning grappling arts first and foremost and then adding on other styles). His preference was Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I did some searching for schools closest to me (another suggestion Willink had) and The Edge was the second one I visited on the south side of Lynchburg. Seeing what they offered, how they taught, and some other things you just have to experience live to really comprehend, my family joined them immediately. They teach Royce Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu techniques while adding in real-life applications for actual self-defense (i.e., though they participate in tournaments, they are not tournament-focused). My son has done some Muay Thai there as well which adds to his arsenal. Besides Jiu-Jitsu, the black belts have martial arts training in some other styles, and real-life experience from which to impart their wisdom. Some of the other belts (all the way down to white) are black belts in martial arts styles, and the number of women members seeking self-defense training has seemed to grown this year. All-in-all, you get great camaraderie in the club, a great atmosphere overall, great instruction, plus the added health and self-defense benefits to boot.”
