This gym is life changing. Do yourself a favor and sign up, you’ll thank me later. Initially, my son was petrified, shy and loathed going. However, with persistence and encouragement from his amazing coaches and team, my son has made a complete 180. He loves learning new skills and looks forward to going. Can’t say enough great things about this gym. The owners, professors Mike and Maggie have created something truly special. It’s more than a gym...it’s our Jujitsu family.

I was traveling for work and looking for a BJJ gym to keep up training. I found Torres Jiu-Jitsu while researching gyms in the area. I was invited to drop in and train - I found absolutely awesome professors and students! This gym is the definition of professional and technical excellence. I am grateful for the opportunity to train here and will definitely return anytime I'm in the area. If you are looking for a gym, I highly recommend Torres Jiu-Jitsu.

Dropped in for a GI class while in town for work. The people were very welcoming, good family vibe. Facility was clean and had a large mat space. The instruction was good and detailed without feeling like it was too much to process. Rolls were great as well. Great place to train if you’re looking for a gym in Houston! *also I watched part of the kids class and was pleased to see how many coaches were on the mat during class.

I moved to the Spring area two years ago but prior to moving here I’d visited the area three to four times a year and I would see the Torres Jiu Jitsu sign on FM 2920. I was fairly new to Jiu Jitsu at that point because I’d only been training for a year give or take but I said that once I moved here that I was going to join Torres. I made that decision without ever visiting or talking to anyone at the gym. Fast forward to fall of 2023 I had moved to the area the previous year but never joined Torres because I kind of lost interest in BJJ. So after a year of sitting on the couch and getting fat and lazy the itch for BJJ came back. I still had it in my head that I wanted to join Torres but a friend back home had recently joined Gracie Barra and was telling me about their experience there so I decided to give the local GB a try. I first went to observe a class and they pretty much did the same things as my original gym back home so I signed up for a trial week with GB. I went to a 6am class there and it was okay but something was missing. The following week I did a trial class on a Saturday at Torres and the coach who was teaching the class was a Brown belt named Matt. We talked a little and we quickly realized that we were both from Alabama and that he is friends with one of the guys I trained with back in Birmingham. I took that as sign that this was the place I was meant to be but I didn’t just want to jump the gun and join. So I did the trial class that day and everything went well. After class I talked to Maggie, who is a co-owner and one of the lead coaches at Torres, and she didn’t pressure me into joining or anything. Just pretty much said we will be here when you are ready to join but not in a dismissive way just giving me the time and space to make my own decision. I thought things over on the drive home and called back up to the gym to join that same day to join and it was the best decision I’ve made on my BJJ journey. Torres feels like home to me. The people are welcoming and willing to teach and share with you to better your Jiu Jitsu but it’s not the coaches. The upper belts like Kaz, Tommy, and Christian will help you and try their best to answer any questions you have. The head coach, Mike, is not a coach who will just tell you what to do but the kind of leader who leads from the front and show you what it means to be an athlete and martial artist. You can’t ask for anything more as far as the gym is concerned. The mat space is large and almost stretches from wall to wall. The staff and the gym members take pride in keeping the gym/mats clean. There are showers in the bathrooms and they just finished a study/work space that can be used by kids before class or their parents while their kids are in class. If you’re in the Spring area I promise you will not find a better BJJ gym and with several classes offered during the week I’m sure you can find the time to fit it into your schedule. The coaches are great. The members are welcoming and friendly. The camaraderie is great. Join Torres Jiu Jitsu you will not be disappointed!

Professor Mike and all of the coaches are extremely professional and amazing! It's a family oriented environment with such an inviting atmosphere. This place is exceptional & we wouldn't take our kids to learn BJJ anywhere else!
