“Coach Steve is a great coach & mentor for all ages. Steve really wants all his students to succeed and learn as much as possible. The gym itself is very clean and nice. The class sizes are smaller but perfect for advancement. This is the best gym in the Chicagoland area and will continue to be under Coach Steve.”

My son has made so many friendships throughout his time there and loves spending time with them on the mats. Coach Steve takes the time to train and encourage every student and motivates them to keep working hard. I cannot say enough good things about Coach Steve, the gym and the families who train there!”

“Coach Steve is an awesome coach. I’ve been to a handful of different gyms and have not yet met an instructor that is more knowledgeable in the sport. Very laid back environment makes for a nice training session after a long day of work. Whether training is for competition or for hobby I highly recommend his gym to everyone”

“Steve is an excellent instructor of jiu jitsu and he has a real love of the sport that he passes on to his students. Steve is a very good person and really cares for his students. Steve is an active competitor at a very high level so he really knows what he is teaching. Steve has a great kids program so If you are thinking of having your kids learn brazilian jiu jitsu then you are in the right place. If you are in the New Lenox area and looking for great instruction in a caring atmosphere, then I highly recommend the University of Ground Fighting as your place to train!”

“Been going to UGF roughly two years on and off and I've never had a problem with the head instructor Steve or anybody else. Don’t be fooled by the negative reviews on here. I personally know most of the people leaving positive reviews on here and I can assure you not a single one of them is related to Coach Steve, myself included. Overall its a Super welcoming and friendly group of people and a high quality and genuine jiujitsu experience with legitimately high leveled and skilled instructors. Even after long hiatuses from the sport I have always returned to UGF for a good reason and I cant say the same for many other academy’s and gyms. If you live in or near the area theres no better place to train!”
