“A Traditional academy in the era of MacDojos... I've been training at Vandry Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for about 5 years. If you are looking for instant gratification, to challenge other meatheads in "open mat" sessions, to become the next UFC champion, or just a place to "roll around" in your fancy rashguard (most of the training at Vandry is done in Gi)...then this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking to: travel back to a time when you respect your instructors (yes, you even bow to them sometimes), drill (a lot) to learn and understand techniques, train safely with great partners (yes Mr. Whitebelt, no heel hooks or punch chokes during rolling until you demonstrate control^^), and understand that there is no shortcut to mastery - that each rank is EARNED (like the old way)...then this might be the place you're looking for. Professor Willian Vandry is a 6th degree Black Belt, and has competed (very successfully) in Pan-Am tournaments; he is the real deal. If it's any indication, people like Master Carlos Machado or Sensei Bas Rutten show up for private seminars sometimes... So yes, it's not a "gym", or a "factory"...and a "small number of long term students" IS telling. In fact, last seminar there were ~17 Blacks Belts in attendance... Quality Vs Quantity? You be the judge.”

“Been going for years…there’s a reason. Vandry is next level, with a super focused and good humored teaching style. He has a ridiculously deep technical knowledge, a strong commitment to his students growth in the art AND to student health/safety. Students at the school are solid on the mat, very good at collaborating and building each others skill set up, rather than just focusing on grinding each other down for an ego win. Whether you’re a gym beast, cross fit champ, or someone who currently gets winded just walking down the road- honestly this is a really great place to grow/learn/train the right way, for a lifetime.”

“This is the best school around for anyone looking to learn Jiu Jitsu. Professor William Vandry teaches almost every class and provides complete technical breakdowns of each technique. He has a deep bench of advanced black belt students who regularly assist. The classes for children are really good and very safety focused. There are kickboxing/ striking class twice a week. It’s the perfect place in Austin Texas to begin or continue your martial arts journey.”

“This place is amazing. Professor Vandry’s knowledge on Jujitsu and his teaching methods are unmatched. He breaks down every grip, move and body position on everything he teaches with extreme detail. Students have different body types and different physical limitations depending on previous injuries they may of had and Professor Vandry has the knowledge and ability to tailor a specific style of jujitsu to match your physical abilities. His students are amazing to train with and many of his students have been with him for 20+ years. This place is the absolute best!”
