“My son, 12, has been training BJJ for over 3 years. In that time he has trained at gyms all around Texas some of which are home to actively ranked national champions. Mid 2024, when my wife and I were looking for a gym for my daughter and other son to start training BJJ we found Vasquez. It was a small, newly opened gym in old downtown Grand Prairie. It did not take us long to figure out that this gym and its instructors, brothers Jorge and Diego Vasquez were unique and had something special. The class structure is atypical in that, the students are encouraged to learn through free rolling (sparring) as opposed to stringent drills. The brothers empower and instill confidence in their students by allowing them to fail and make mistakes. It is a fun (when appropriate) and welcoming environment. They challenge and encourage students to strive for excellence within but never push them. My kids have come a long way since they began their journeys in Jiu-Jitsu, in their skill, health and most importantly, mental fortitude. They are more disciplined and thoughtful and grow incrementally every class. This drove me to begin my own journey as well under the tutelage of the Vasquez brothers. BJJ and more specifically, Vasquez is a place for adults and children alike of all shapes, sizes, skill, and fitness levels.
