Chrissy Nakashima
"If I could rate them zero stars I would. My son is on the spectrum (high functioning Asperger’s) and he normally attends the Sandy location where they are empathetic and are sure to pair him with a partner that will be kind and helpful. They coach the students in a way that teaches respect and limits. The professors/coaches at the Layton location continuously paired him with partners that just wanted to show off their higher level skills, who were careless and aggressive. Multiple times he tapped out and they didn’t respect him enough to immediately stop. Yesterday he got drop kneed in his manhood. The coaches reaction was to just shrug and walk away. The coaches do not care. Almost seems like they are annoyed or Inconvenienced by a student who is struggling emotionally or physically. They have no empathy and don’t really support helping students who have experienced bullying or who simply can’t keep up. In top of all of that they closed their kid room (where siblings hang out while they wait) causing the viewing area to be grossly over crowded. They don’t respect families enough to accommodate them at all. I was reprimanded bc my four and six year old were reading a book out loud that Gracie Barra provided. Parents in there talk loudly and gossip the entire class, but my kids are being too loud for laughing or talking to one another. Give me a break. YOU’RE IN UTAH for goodness sake. Learn how to accommodate families and have empathy for students who are still learning how to regulate their emotions. Respect them enough to tailor their partners to their skill level. Trust me when I say, there are much better jujitsu places nearby. For the price you shouldn’t be treated terribly for having a disability or for having to bring in siblings. They wouldn’t let me drop my son off either. Just overall careless and egotistical."

"My kids have been enrolled there for about a year and I have been to almost every one of their classes. I say that to say, the coaches patience and persistence to instill values like respect, discipline, and confidence in the kids is unwavering. From what I've seen, the youngest class is about having fun, learning some techniques and staying lighthearted. For the kids class it's more about technique, but also trying instill those key values while still having a little play time in the end. For the teens, I've only seen the beginning of the classes but they are really trying to build their confidence. This really is a great family environment and if you're considering learning Jiu Jitsu, I highly recommend stopping by and talking to the coaches."

"Enrolled my son here when it first opened up and have not been disappointed. It’s a really great place to learn jiu jitsu with some brilliant coaches. It’s definitely a great environment for kids and adults alike."
