"When my family moved from Canada to Florida, I had no idea where we would resume our regular daily BJJ training. My teenage Daughter had just earned her Blue belt and I had received my Black belt. Training was an integral part of our lives, and we were intent on continuing our BJJ lifestyle. As fate would have it, we were renting a place near Professor Delmans 'Gustavo Machado BJJ Punta Gorda' school. We showed up one evening in July of 2022 and were immediately welcomed and warmly greeted. It felt like home. 5 months later, despite moving to another town, we are still happily training with Professor Delman! What a pleasure it has been to train with a true 'Master of his Craft.' Although I considered myself to be 'well versed' in BJJ when I arrived in Florida, Professor Delman is constantly showing movements, sequences and variations that I'd never seen before and i often find myself having those mental 'ah ha!' moments. His teaching material is a nice blend of 'old school' and 'new school' along with BJJ Self Defence applications. Having been involved in the BJJ World in Brazil and the US for over 30 years Professor Delman is an absolute wealth of information. I have observed him instructing Children, Teens, and Adults - begginner White belts and high level Competitive Purple, Brown and Black belts. Whatelse can I say?! "Real, old school jiu-jitsu. So glad I was talked into checking this place out. 3yrs going and I still make the 35minute drive. Del is genuine, loves teaching jiu-jitsu, and will push you to become a better person. Both on the mats and off the mats. He will promote when ready without any financial obligation, so you know you've earned it. (some gyms will charge you for a belt promotion, which cheapens the promotion in my opinion). The people who train here are high caliber athletes, who are very welcoming and encouraging. Can't speak highly enough about Del, and this gym. Definitely worth checking out."
