Bayou has very quickly felt like home for me after trying a few different gyms in the area. Classes are not crowded— you get a lot of personal feedback from the coaches. Multiple black belts in most classes too. Anyone who wants to come try a class will be easily welcomed. People who train here are committed to the gym and community— highly recommend. :)”
“If you’re an early riser and looking to train BJJ come to the morning Breakfast Club class at Bayou Jiu Jitsu on Airline Monday thru Thursday. David cares about helping students get better.”
“I’ve been training at Bayou Jiu Jitsu for over two years, starting at 44 years old, and my only regret is not starting sooner. I mainly train the 0430 am breakfast club class due to work, kids and life responsibilities but I love it and the discipline that it creates in me. The club offers so many opportunities to train to work around peoples different schedules and all the instructors are top notch. If you wanna elevated your mental and physical health, do yourself a favor and join up.”
“I can’t express how grateful I am to have found Bayou JJ. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was welcomed into a warm and supportive community that feels like family. I have a hectic life and this is the place I look forward to to get out of my head and just have fun! The instructors are amazing. They all have different styles and different approaches to teaching so you are bound to find a class that fits with your personality. Being a beginner can be challenging (I started at age 48) but if you stick with it the rewards are worth it. One of the things I love most about Bayou JJ is how family-oriented it is. It’s incredible to see families training together—parents and kids learning side by side, building not just skills but also lasting memories. My own family has has trained here for the last 3 years, and it has given me precious time with my kids. Jiu Jitsu is hard. Watching my children be challenged with something incredibly difficult and seeing them learn how to navigate that is incredibly valuable. One of the best skills you can have in life is learning how to fail. Teaching them to interpret failures as learning experiences is such a great skill to acquire. My kids have gained confidence, see failures as an opportunity to learn, and join a community of adults and kids who have that same mindset. The gym hosts family events and open mats, creating opportunities for us to connect with other members. The facilities are always clean and well-maintained, providing ample space for drilling and sparring. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, where you can train alongside your family and grow together, BJJ is the place!”
“The professors are great with my son’s age group and I’ve seen so much growth in both confidence and physical abilities since joining. Highly recommend!”
