“I have been training at BJJ Lifestyle Academy in South County since 2019. I served 8 years in the USMC got out in August, 2018, my transition back to the civilian sector was very difficult, I was having issues with PTSD and missed being part of the brotherhood in arms. It wasn’t until November 2019, that I knew I need to fill that void in my life, so I started researching and calling around for places to train. I have spent my military career dealing with professionals and what sets the professionals apart from others is they have a extremely good foundation and are experts at the FUNDAMENTALS! I feel Coach Mike takes the same approach and has a crawl, walk, run, sprint approach to teaching. I immediately got a good first impression with Coach Mike - there was no high pressure sales pitch or “discounts” for immediate sign ups (actually get free week to try). Between the two gyms, class times are offered in early mornings, late mornings, evenings, and wknds, and have gi and no-gi options, so easy to work in variety. Coach and instructors are credible with lot of competition experience, but remain approachable. I have two years in and look forward to more at BJJ Lifestyle Academy.”
