This is a great place to continue training if you've got some experience while also being very welcoming to newcomers. Matt and Jess foster a positive community of learning and healthy competitiveness. Fellow students are considerate and good training partners. Not only will you gain a great appreciation and understanding for jiu-jitsu but you'll have fun while getting in a solid workout.

I’ve been training at this BJJ gym every day of the week, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. The coaches here are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and always willing to help — whether you’re brand new or have been training for years. They take the time to break down techniques, correct mistakes, and answer questions without making you feel rushed or overwhelmed. The environment is welcoming but still pushes you to get better every day. You can tell the coaches genuinely care about your progress, both on and off the mats. Whether you’re here to compete or just improve your skills and fitness, this gym has everything you need.If you’re looking for a place to grow in BJJ with quality instruction and a great community, I highly recommend this gym.

As with starting anything new there tends the be a huge learning curve (stick with me for a minute). When I recently decided (a couple months ago) that I wanted to start learning BJJ I went and visited three local dojos. What kept me coming back to GDTW was the people. The coaches are always welcoming, interested in their students and truly desire to lead lower belts in gradual improvement. There's always help available and minimal risk of injury. The other pupils are humble and knowledge seeking, steady improvement is desired by everyone. The training atmosphere is a great and the coaches make sure I don't forget my suit from work (won't be long before I have my own reminder on the door). If you're looking for a great BJJ training experience for yourself or your kids check out GDTW, you won't be disappointed. Come join the team!

Started training here last year and I cannot say enough positive things about the coaches and environment. I've been in and out of jiu-jitsu since about 2010 and started back consistently around 2022. Matt and his team are the genuine real deal. Not all high level black belts and instructors are able to communicate/teach at the same level of their skill. At Ground Dwellers/The Woodlands, the instruction is exceptional and at any point during a class you can find yourself on the mat with 2nd and 3rd degree black belts along with a tribe of brown, purple and blue belts. If you are a beginner, this is an extremely experienced and encouraging environment to be introduced to this art. If you are an upper belt or competitor, this is a really tough room with a variety of skilled members to train with. What convinced me to train here full time is seeing the quality of upper belts that attend. If you get the chance, make it by for a Friday lunch class for "Q&A Fridays". The level of humility that exists when you see black belts asking honest questions about problem solving to one another or how attentive and enthusiastic they are at helping a beginner understand something is why the community for this place is such a hidden oasis.

An incredible jiu jitsu gym! Matt and Jess have created a great environment to learn jiu jitsu. There is a broad range of skill levels and everyone has a great attitude. I highly recomend coming here if you are looking for a new place to roll.
